Durian Banana Split
Finding durian in Metro Manila isn’t really that difficult.  That is, if you have extra money to spare.  The fruit, with its crowning glory, is now easily available in major supermarkets.  The price though is a bit steep - each kilo costs like ten times more than the price in my beautiful hometown of Davao City.
Durian Ice Cream, too, is readily available in supermarkets here.  The price is quite similar to those sold in Davao.  So whenever I get a durian craving, I head off to nearby Cash and Carry and buy a pint or a gallon.
Durian Banana Split, on the other hand, is quite difficult to find here in Metro Manila.  The only place I know that sells it is Next Door (by North Park) along Makati Ave.
Next Door’s Durian Banana Split costs about P128 (or was it P138?).  It’s basically just durian ice cream (the ice cream tastes like the Arce Brand’s durian flavor; though I would have wanted the other durian ice cream brand - LGV or something like that), slices of banana and some cherry syrup.
I’ve only tried the Durian Banana Split at Next Door thrice, but I’m loving it!  Eating it brings back memories of Davao and makes me feel like I’m home.
If you’re one of the many people who disdain durian because of its smell, you definitely have to try this Durian Banana Split and you will change your mind!
